The initiative is expected to reach more than 35,000+ families by the end of September 2025.
Respiratory diseases are among the top three causes of death worldwide, yet most can be effectively managed with timely diagnosis and treatment. In India, delayed detection continues to be a major challenge. With seasonal changes, fluctuating air quality, and increasing exposure to pollution, the launch of this mobile clinic represents a critical step in bridging the gap between communities and preventive healthcare.
“Respiratory diseases like Asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease often go undiagnosed until they become severe. Early detection saves lives, improves quality of life, and reduces the economic burden on families,” said Dr. C. Selvi, Senior Consultant Pulmonologist,Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani.
The Kauvery Breath Check - Free Mobile Lung Clinic will focus on the early identification and management of conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma, Lung Failure, Interstitial Lung Disease, and post-COVID complications. High-risk groups, including smokers and individuals exposed to dust, pollution, or biomass fuel, will particularly benefit from these screenings. Subtle symptoms like unexplained breathlessness, persistent cough, or reduced lung capacity will be carefully evaluated to ensure timely intervention.
The services offered include pulmonary function tests, oxygen saturation checks, direct consultations with senior pulmonologists, and counselling on smoking cessation and lifestyle modifications. By combining these services, the clinic aims to provide a comprehensive approach to respiratory health right at people’s doorsteps.
“At Kauvery, our mission is to make quality healthcare accessible for everyone. The Kauvery Breath Check - Mobile Lung Clinic is a step forward in reducing preventable deaths due to chronic lung diseases,” said Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-founder and Executive Director of Kauvery Group of Hospitals.
Actor Thambi Ramaiah, who was the chief guest at the launch, added, “I’m happy to see
Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani taking such a thoughtful step.
