Students celebtates Diwali in School
The students, teachers and staff of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School (Postal Colony 4th Street, West Mambalam) were celebrated Diwali with cultural programs and bursting of crackers in the school playground on Oct.16.
The school students were performed pooja, recited slogams, performed Lord Vishnu's Dasavatharam and kolattam dance as part of celebrations.Nagasuran vatham held in the school playground where huge doll installed and it was burnt with crackers.
Dr. Girija Seshadri (School Correspondent) said that every year Diwali celebrated in grand manner for about 30 years.
The teachers were briefed importance and purna stories about Diwali celebrations, she added.
She said that some students are unable buy crackers and celebrate Diwali in their households, similar students were selected to burn crackers in the school playground.
All precautionary steps were taken during the celebrations.
Concert of Hindi old movies songs
Satrangi’s presenting 'Zindagi Ek Safar' will be held on Oct.

This program will feature transit songs from Hindi movies of 50s, 60s & 70s. Songs
picturised on Car, Bus, Cycle, Boat, Horse Cart and other vehicles will be presented from
movies like Naya Daur, Mere Sanam, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Andaz, Amar Prem, Aradhana, Kashmir Ki Kali to name a few.

Free Eye Camp
Lions club of KRS (Kodambakkam) and Kumaran Eye Speciality Hospital jointly organised an free eye screening camp at JaiGopal Garodia Girls Higher Secondary School, Choolaimedu.
1076 students were screened at the camp.This camp was attended by Ln. S. Mangayakkarasi (President) Ln. S.Y. Narayanan (Secretary), Ln.Dr.M. Kumaran (Past President of the club and Director, Kumaran Eye Speciality centre) and Santha Kumari, Head Mistress of the School).
Celebration of World Service Day
The members of Lions International District 3241-F celebrated World Service Day by distributing food packets to 300 person at outside their office premises on Oct.8.

Book Writer and Social Worker honoured
Sai Sankara Group of Matrimonials, Chennai organised an event alongwith Uratha Sindanai, Penakkal Peravai, Malar Vanam Magazine and Auditor NRK (President of Sri Ram Samaj) at West Mambalam. Dr. Balasandilyan was honoured with cash award of one lakh for his outstanding contribution in literary work, Training & Social Service for over 38 years. Earlier his book Titled "Vayadai Vellum Vaalibargal" comprising achievements of 50 eminent persons was released.

The students of RMD Academy for Health (unit of RMD Pain and Palliative Care Trust, T. Nagar) conducted Diwali safety , road safety and elder care awareness by holding placards on Oct.10 at the junction of Bazullah Road and North Usman Road, T.Nagar.
The students are under going free three months general duty assistant course.The students are from under privileged families from various part of Tamilnadu.
The hundreds of students trained and placed jobs in health sector.

Workshop on first aid for firecracker injuries
Radhatri Nethralaya conducted its 13th annual Diwali workshop on first aid for firecracker injuries to the eyes on Oct.14 at its main branch in T. Nagar. 110 school students and 37 teachers from 37 schools in Chennai attended and benefitted from the hands on workshop conducted by Dr. Vasumathy Vedantham, Medical Director, Radhatri Nethralaya. The students enacted out several scenarios of cracker injuries under her expert guidance. All the participating students received certificates of participation, pamphlets to be distributed in their respective shools and first aid kits from the hands of the chief guest Archana Ramasundaram, IPS (Retd), Ex. DGP, Former member of Lokpal. Dr. Praveen Krishna, Medical Director Radhatri Nethralaya and Niranjan Solanki, President, Shree Mahaveer International also graced the workshop with their presence.

BB Combat Academy shines at Thiruvallur District Muaythai Championship

Interactive classes on importance of nutrition and hygiene
Aura holistic wellness centers (T.Nagar) conducted a personal hygiene and hormonal issues interactive class to 'General Duty Assistant' course candidates from Semmancherry and Kannagi Nagar at RMD Academy, Habibullah Road, T.Nagar.Medical graduates from Denmark, Ditte and Esmeralda spoke about importance of nutrition and hygiene to the students . The program was headed by Dr. Gautam (Medical director of RMD Group of Hospitals) and Sruthi Vishaal (Founder Managing Director of Aura holistic Wellness centers). Aura Wellness team conducted stress relief, health and nutrition awareness programs in schools, colleges and corporate companies. Celebration of Alpha Fest
Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, celebrated its cultural extravaganza, Alpha Fest 2025-2026, on September 26 and 27 in its premises.The grand celebration, held from 9am to 4pm, radiated joy, talent, and cultural vibrancy. Members from the four houses Shakespeare, Shaw, Shelley, and Spencer enthusiastically participated in both on-stage and off-stage events. The formal inauguration of Alpha Fest was organized on Sept. 27. The program commenced with a prayer song rendered by the Alpha Choir, followed by a welcome address from. M. Kavya, President of the Student Forum (Shift I). The guests of honor were felicitated by Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal of Alpha Arts and Science College. The Cultural Brief was presented by V. Kishore, Cultural Secretary of Shift I. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal. The guests were introduced by J. Harish, Student Cultural Secretary, Shift I and S. Devadarshini, Student Community Secretary, Shift I. The guests of honor inspired the gathering with their motivating words. Dheena, Radio Jockey, Co- founder & MD Salt Audios, Audio Solution Specialist, urged the students to be participative and interactive, emphasizing the importance of developing communication and leadership skills through active involvement in college events. T.R. Bala, Othaithamarai and Jinn the Pet fame, Film Director & Producer, shared his remarkable journey from being a student at Alpha to becoming a successful director and producer. His story served as a great source of motivation and inspiration for the Alphians. Off-Stage Events conducted on Sept. 26 included Signature Chefs (Food without fire), Grill Fill (Face Painting), Shutter Up (Photography), Mehndi (Bridal Mehndi Design), Minute to Win It (One-minute film festival), Biz Thrive (Business Plan), Trash to Treasure (Art from Waste), and Rhythms of Kavithai Kavithai) On-Stage Events conducted on Sept. 27 included Tap Your Feet (Solo Singing), Beat Sphere (Instruments), Beat Breakers (Adaptune), I’ve Got the Rhythm (Solo Dance), Chronicles of Style (Fashion Walk), Melodica (Group Singing), Folk Dance (Girls’ Indian Folk Style), and Dance Dil Se… (Boys’ Western Dance). Judges evaluated participants on confidence, stage presence, teamwork, coordination, creativity, presentation skills, and choreography. The Alpha Bazaar added vibrancy to the fest, with stalls organized by the four houses. Students of both shifts actively contributed, showcasing artificial jewellery, fancy items, candy houses, and a wide range of food stalls serving bakery products, chat items, ice cream, fresh juice, biriyani, noodles, and more. The Valedictory Ceremony was organized on Sept. 27, 4.30 pm and was graced by the guest of honor, Bharadwaj Sundar, Filmmaker & Co- founder, Slingshot Creations. He addressed the Alphians with immense pride and gratitude, expressing his joy at returning to his Alma Mater. Sharing his journey from being an Alphian to becoming a successful entrepreneur, he left the students inspired and motivated to pursue their own dreams with determination. The prizes distribution ceremony followed. Bharadwaj Sundar and Principal, Dr. A Sivashankar gave away the prizes. The overall trophy for the winning house was bagged by Shelly House. The Shaw house emerged as the Runners Up for Alpha Fest 2025. The Valedictory concluded with a Vote of thanks by Blessan Vass, Student Sports Secretary, Shift II. Alpha Fest 2025–2026 was a grand success, fostering cultural unity and showcasing the multifaceted talents of Alphians. Onam celebration at Alpha
Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam on Sept.4 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour in its premises. The event served as a splendid showcase of Kerala’s rich heritage, uniting the college community in a joyous celebration of tradition and togetherness. The festivities commenced with a welcome address by Esther Johanah of III B.Com General, setting an uplifting and spirited tone for the day. This was followed by an inspiring speech from the Principal, Dr. A. Sivashankar, who emphasized the significance of cultural observances in academic settings and encouraged students to embrace such traditions. A dynamic performance of Chenda Melam reverberated across the campus, infusing the atmosphere with rhythmic energy. This was succeeded by mesmerizing Kerala-style group dance performances that enthralled the audience with its graceful portrayal of regional art forms. Melodious group and solo singing performances, reflecting the spirit of unity and joy followed. A compelling street play, presented by the Alpha Theatre Club student in-charge Pradeep Bala of III BCA, emerged as a highlight of the event. The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony, where Principal, Dr. Sivashankar felicitated the winners of the Atthapookalam (Floral Rangoli) and Vadamvali (Tug of War) competitions held on Sept.3. The Department of BBA clinched the first place in the Vadamvali contest, with BCA securing the runner- up position. In the Atthapookalam competition, out of 18 teams, the teams from the Departments of ISM, BBA, and BT were awarded first, second, and third prizes respectively. The Onam celebration at Alpha Arts and Science College was a resounding success, leaving behind cherished memories of a day enriched with culture, spirited competition, and communal harmony.
