SS Shasun Jain College for women, NSS, (T.Nagar) and Exnora Greater Chennai organized a public awareness program on the need to avoid plastic recently.
As part of the program, Students and Exnora volunteers removed non-bio degradable waste and plastic bottles, polythene covers, etc.
The Students and Exnora volunteers distributed pamphlets to the general public on the need to avoid plastic products, especially polythene covers and bottles in order to save the environment.
Earlier, R. Govindaraj, President, T.Viswanath, Vice President and Mr. Anand Laxman, Secretary, Exnora Greater Chennai explained the need to avoid plastic products and the damage it causes to the environment.
Following this, they interacted with the students and urged them to firstly avoid plastics in their homes and then propagate this message to others.
They also explained the necessity for the students to participate in such awareness campaigns to create a better and pollution free world for them and their children.
The Program concluded with the Students taking a pledge to avoid plastic and resume use of bio-degradable products wherever possible. They also pledged that they will encourage others around them to avoid plastics and use bio-degradable products.
